Ares To Acquire Private Equity Firm Crescent Point Capital In $3.8 Billion Deal

Ares Management Corporation, a global alternative investment manager, announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Crescent Point Capital (CPC), an Asia-focused private equity firm with approximately $3.8 billion of assets under management.

The transaction, which is expected to close in the third quarter of 2023, will be funded through a combination of cash and Ares’ Class A common shares. The owners of CPC will receive approximately 10 million Ares Class A common shares, which will represent approximately 1.5% of Ares’ outstanding shares.

Ares said that the acquisition of CPC would give it a platform to expand its investments in Asia. CPC has a strong track record of investing in consumer, healthcare, and industrial companies in the region.

The acquisition of CPC is Ares’ latest move to expand its presence in Asia. In 2022, Ares acquired PineBridge Investments, a Singapore-based asset management firm with over $100 billion in assets under management.
