Stephen Hawking dies at 76
Stephen Hawking, whose pioneering work contributed to the advancement nof physics as well as the making the “soft” but no lesser contribution of bringing it to popular understanding, has died at the age of 76.
Hawking’s most brilliant mind and unstoppable personality visibly contrasted with his physical condition caused by the almost life time wasting disease that limited his movements and speech. Undeterred – or at least judging by his life actions – by the horrific diagnosis he received at the age of only 21 including the forecast of that he would be dead by 30, Hawking defied every expectation and lived an extraordinary and productive life.
Although hardly understandable to the general public in the detail it deserved this book A Brief History of Time delighted, inspired and educated generations due to neither talked down to his readers nor underestimating them.
Although many summaries will follow his death, you may prefer to read his own autobiography, My Brief History.
No doubt to anyone Stephen Hawking lived an extraordinary and inspiring life. He is survived by three children — Robert, Lucy, and Timothy — and three grandchildren.
