Resignation email UK – HOW TO WRITE a notice email
It’s almost always better to hand your notice in in person, and then follow up with a formal written communication for your employment file.
However, society has moved on to a quicker pace and also circumstances can be such that you need to send immediately or possibly your company policy requires immediate confirmation so we’ve included below a nice sample example for you to take and adapt
Dear [direct manager’s name],
My apologies for notifying you by email; however, as you know, circumstances are such that on (insert the date when you will cease attending the office) I won’t be coming into the office and I wanted to inform you asap.
Please accept this email as my written end of employment notice from the position of [job title] at [insert company name].
Under the terms of my employment contract, my notice period is [x days/weeks/months], so my last day of work will be [insert date].
Please let me know what to expect as far as my final work schedule, accrued holiday leave and employee benefits.
I have enjoyed working here and would like to say thank you for the opportunities I’ve been given to work on (insert project/role/challenge) and I have kept a record of outstanding tasks here (insert google / shared drive address) to make my handover go as smoothly as possible
