11. Mia and Ben
Mia and Ben first culinary adventure was establishing a healthy soup restaurant in London’s Soho. It was manic and fun in equal measure, and they learnt a lot—especially from their customers. Most importantly they learned that parents struggled to find appropriate, appealing food for their babies when they were out and about, and they were often asked “can my baby eat this?”.
As they looked through the aisles of supermarkets and health food shops they noticed that, whilst there were plenty of brands claiming space in the baby food aisle, they were all the same: stocked alongside tinned goods. It got them asking questions: why is baby food older than the baby it’s made for? How nutritious can this food be once it’s been blitzed with heat? And, finally, what are we going to do about it?!
Fast forward a year or two and Mia & Ben was born, setting out to address this glaring issue and bring baby food into the 21st century. Convenient, fresh and genuinely nutritious food shouldn’t be hard to come by, or require hours of cooking and tupperware-stress for already frazzled parents. Using new technology and fresh ideas they developed a product range that provides better choices for parents.
