Games Executive search should not be this hard
You heard it here first! Games executive search should be easy, right? People working in the games industry have many similar traits to other high octane technically literate and create industries. So it should be easy to recruit at senior level from similar categories and bring over. Being a games recruiter or games headhunter should be easy, right?
But it’s not. It notoriously difficult. Many a successful IT headhunter has lifted their well groomed head mid Fortnite session or watched their son plowing though Minecraft and thought…wait…their must be recruiter gold in there them hills!
Everything says so. The profile, the sheer volume, the growth. But it’s just not the same. Games people outwardly match your linkedin profiling but in a real world situation there’s just no cross over. And it gets worse. It’s kind of an insular world or close shop and you can’t work out which one it is. And unlike IT recruitment where you can open an account and within a year you’ve got 13 thousand DBA, Live Ops and IT support contractors in. In games, you’ve got one semi warm passive from Activision and a client who reckons he knows all the talent in the industry.
Games Executive Search. Be good, or go home. Crying…and probably with a bigger bonus from that GDPR / new fintech / block chain consultancy incubator division thingy you’re now staffing up
